Lasso the Longhorn Roping Game Rental

Lasso the Longhorn gives every guest the chance to rope like a cowboy. Players throw a lasso at a longhorn steer head and try to catch it over the horns. Rope is harder than it looks, so we include rings for younger players. Book it and you will hear the cheer every time someone lands a catch.

How it plays

Players stand behind a line and throw a lasso at the longhorn head. A loop that settles over the horns is a catch. Most first attempts miss, which is half the fun. After a few throws people get the feel of swinging and letting go at the right moment.

For children, rings tossed over the horns do the same job with far less frustration, so the game stays open to all ages.

Roping tips we pass on

  • Watch a throw first rather than reading about it
  • Keep the loop open and swing it over your head a couple of times before releasing
  • Aim past the horns, not at them
  • Beginners start closer and step back after a catch

What your rental includes

We deliver the steer head, lassos and rings, pick a flat spot with clear space around the thrower for the swing, away from food tables and walkways, and check the ceiling for lights and fans indoors. We show your volunteer how to run it and take it all away at the end.

Events it suits

At a country wedding, set up a lasso lane near the cocktail area so guests can try between drinks and photos. At a company hoedown, run a one-hour roping challenge with a belt buckle prize. At a kids' party, give each child rings and a sticker for every catch.

It pairs well with our Rodeo Roper. Guests learn on the still longhorn, then try a moving calf. Add old time photos for the full look.

  • One point per catch, five throws each
  • Two points for a rope catch, one for a ring
  • Distance ladder: step back after each catch, furthest catch wins

Pair it and book it

Players follow our rules and swing ropes only in the throwing area. Similar quick games include Sombrero Toss and Conk the Crow. See all options on our add-ons page, then get a quote.

Questions people ask

Is it hard to lasso the longhorn?

For first-timers, yes. Most people need a few throws before they land a catch, which is part of the appeal.

Can small kids play?

Yes, with the rings we include instead of a rope.

Does it need power?

No, so it fits most spaces.
